What is Dermal Filler?

Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body. It attracts and binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, therefore, maintaining smoothness, hydration, and volume. An overall moisturising and plumping effect.

As facial contour changes, with collagen, elastin and bony depletion, natural hyaluronic acid can be injected into the areas of deficiency.

This process happens with age and dermal fillers can not only replace lost volume but can also stimulate the production of collagen improving the quality of your skin over time. The procedure requires an intimate knowledge of facial anatomy and location of blood vessels but also an artistic hand to create a beautiful natural shape.

The type of filler used is a temporary product, they differ in viscosity and can stay in the skin from 3-12 months depending on the appropriate product chosen. Teoxane and Juvederm are popular products and creates a smooth homogenous effect when injected.

Dr Uma is advanced trained under the mentorship of Dr Harris. She is on Dr Harris referral practitioner list.

Techniques used

Blunt ended cannula technique can be used for dermal filler placement as well as precision needle techniques.. Experienced practitioners use this advanced technique to inject the filler comfortably without the risk of bleeding, pain and reduced risk of excessive swelling. There are fewer puncture sites and minimal downtime.

An invaluable benefit of this procedure is the significantly reduced risk of damage to any surrounding, vessels, nerves or vital structures as the cannula is blunt and bends.

Within all the clinics are emergency drugs, but also products used to reverse the action of filler. A risk of using filler is occluding blood vessels, it is imperative that the practitioner understands this. I have the reversal enzyme at hand, as well as all other necessary safety paraphernalia.
